The 2468 Diet is a free weight loss plan that's been circulating around the internet over the past few years. Although not as popular as some fad diets, the 2468 diet is still worth discussing as it may be a tempting plan for many teenagers who are eager to lose weight as fast as possible without considering the possible long term effects this may have on their health.
The 2468 Diet is a very simple program. It's all about cutting down your calories drastically. There's a 4 day cycle. On each day of the diet you eat a different number of calories based on the number of the day. On the first day of the cycle you eat 200 calories, on the second you eat 400 calories, on the third 600, and on the fourth 800. Then, you go back to the beginning of the cycle.
As you can see, this is a very very low calorie diet plan. You never exceed 800 calories. There is no limitation on the type of food that you can eat. The only thing this diet deals with is the overall amount of calories.
There is no wonder that you can lose weight with the 2468 diet. It's just the low calories that cause this. There is nothing special or clever about the program. In essence, it's a starvation plan.
I believe that this is an unhealthy weight loss plan that you shouldn't follow. Cutting your calories so low without addressing the need for nutrients can prove damaging to your health. You may also experience a variety of side-effects such as fatigue, irritability, lack of concentration and so on. Such a diet may lead to a short term weight loss but will also likely lead to a loss of muscle tissue. Most of the weight loss will be due to water weight loss and not to a reduction in body fat. This is a kind of weight loss which is difficult to maintain in the long run.
In addition, such a low calorie diet will make it very hard to exercise. You will simply have very little energy to work with. As I do believe that exercising is important for fat loss and health purposes, I believe that this diet is simply not a good way for you to lose weight.
Can the 2468 diet lead to a quick weight loss? Yes, it can. But I wouldn't use it even for a few days. It's just not worth it.
