How to Care for Your Infrared Sauna

If not properly cared for, your infrared sauna can harbor a variety of bacteria, mold, and/or fungi in the floorboards or seats. By implementing an effective maintenance plan, you can keep your sauna sanitary.
Basic care and cleaning for your Infrared Sauna
1. Do not paint or stain the wood of the sauna. Artificial finishes on the sauna can cause the wood surface to become much hotter than normal and allow fumes to escape from the wood treatment. Artificial treatments may also soften the wood and prevent proper ventilation. To remain effective, the wood of your sauna needs to "breathe."
2. While sweat is a natural byproduct of any great sauna experience, it can cause discoloration and staining on the surface of your home sauna due to a buildup of body oils, as well as the expulsion of toxins from your body during sauna use. One of the easiest ways to minimize staining is to lay a towel down on the bench and backrest, and a floor mat on the floorboards. This will catch any sweat before it hits the wood surfaces, preventing build up from occurring.
3. Keep a soft-bristled "hand brush" near the sauna door. Establish a routine of scrubbing down the sauna after each use. Make sure to brush off the benches, walls, seats, and backrests. By removing any buildup immediately after use, you will prevent the sauna from gathering deposits further down the line.
4. If there is visible dirt or sweat stains developing on the sauna surfaces, use warm water with a mild detergent to clean the sauna in conjunction with your hand brush. Moisten the hand brush with a small amount of the water and detergent solution, and then brush the affected areas until the dirt or stain is no longer visible. This can be done even when stains are not visible as part of your regular maintenance procedure. It can be done as often as you feel is necessary.
5. When finished using the infrared sauna, prop the door open to allow air-flow to dry out all wood surfaces and ventilate the sauna. This will allow any moisture left in the sauna to evaporate quickly.

Your family might also be put at risk. You have to remember to wash your hands from time to time. Wash your hands when you have performed a task that has significantly dirtied them.
Use soap and water to effectively clean your hands. Use antibacterial soaps for a more positive result. At times, using hand sanitizers will already be enough. Be aware of proper hand washing techniques. There is also a method for putting on hand sanitizers and making sure they work.
Take time to clean your office area. Remove clutter from your cubicle. Throw out things that are considered garbage. Think about reducing the number of items present on your desk. Make it a habit to disinfect the top of your desk, your computer's keyboard, mouse and all other things that you frequently touch and use.
Germs can live in items that have been left unattended for some time. Molds might even grow on moist areas that are not regularly cleaned.
Take care of your health by eating a healthy diet. Don't make a habit out of skipping breakfast. Do not forgo eating breakfast even if you are running late. Manage your time better so that you will have enough time to sit down and eat a hearty meal. Make sure that you have fruits and vegetables included in your diet.
